Why I reject weight loss programs with shakes, one-sided diets and similar concepts
Nowadays, there are few topics that are as emotionally charged as weight loss. Countless programs, products and diets promise quick results – from shakes and strict protein diets to bizarre concepts such as the “egg and meatball diet”. These offers are tempting, but they are often based on short-sighted concepts that are neither sustainable nor healthy. In my practice for holistic medicine, I want to make a clear statement: One-sided diets and quick fixes are not the answer to deep-rooted problems – in fact, they often make them worse.
Danger of nutrient deficiencies
Many weight loss programs are based on a severely restricted food selection. This can lead to significant nutrient deficiencies. If meals are replaced by shakes or the diet consists only of proteins, important vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals are often missing.
For example, in addition to proteins, the body also needs carbohydrates and fats in order to function optimally. If these nutrients are neglected in the long term, symptoms such as excessive tiredness, concentration problems, hair loss or even serious illnesses such as osteoporosis or cardiovascular problems can occur.
Many people buy short-term “weight loss success” with long-term health risks – a price that nobody should have to pay.
The yo-yo effect: a vicious circle
Another problem with such programs is the famous yo-yo effect. Studies show that one-sided diets often lead to rapid weight loss, but this is not sustainable. The body switches to “economy mode”: the metabolism slows down and as soon as you resume your normal diet, you not only gain back the weight you lost, but often even more.
This cycle of losing and gaining weight not only has negative effects on the body, but also on the psyche. Many people feel frustrated, guilty and helpless after repeated yo-yo experiences – which in turn can reinforce unhealthy eating patterns.
Long-term weight loss: The sustainable alternative
Sustainable weight loss does not require quick fixes, but a conscious, holistic approach. In my holistic medicine practice, I work with people to develop a deep awareness of their body, their diet and their health. This process takes time – and that’s a good thing. Because change that comes from within is always more sustainable than superficial programs.
Here are some important elements for long-term and healthy weight loss:
- Individualized nutrition: No diet is right for everyone. Together we look at your needs and develop a balanced diet that contains all the important nutrients.
- Latest examination methods: In my practice, I offer new examination methods such as genetic testing for SNPs (e.g. in cooperation with Natugena) and checking for nutrient deficiencies. If necessary, I also use classic internal medications such as SGLT2 inhibitors or other diabetes medications and check the hormone status to ensure individualized therapy.
- Trauma-sensitive support: Unhealthy eating patterns often go hand in hand with deeper feelings and old injuries. I will help you to gently work through these issues and transform your emotions in a sustainable way.
- Slow pace: A weight reduction of 0.5 to 1 kg per week is realistic and healthy. This gives your body and psyche time to adapt to the changes.
- Exercise and mindfulness: Regular exercise and mindful practices such as yoga or meditation can help build a better connection with your body and reduce stress – a common trigger for emotional eating.
My offer: Holistic, trauma-sensitive and laboratory-analytical support
I see my job as not only helping people to lose weight, but also to build a profound connection to themselves. To do this, I use state-of-the-art methods such as stress measurement using VNS analysis, biofeedback training, hormone status and nutrient analysis as well as SNP analysis. It’s not about achieving a certain dress size quickly, but about feeling good in your body and staying healthy in the long term.
If you are ready to shape your weight loss journey in a gentle, sustainable and loving way, I will be happy to accompany you. Together we will create a basis on which you will not only lose kilos, but also gain a new attitude to life.
Conclusion
Quick weight loss programs with shakes, one-sided diets or other radical concepts are not a long-term solution. They increase nutritional deficiencies, put the body under unnecessary stress and often lead to a frustrating yo-yo effect. Instead, sustainable weight loss requires time, mindfulness and individual, holistic support. In my practice, I provide you with trauma-sensitive and loving support to help you create a healthy and balanced relationship with your body and your diet. Because true change begins on the inside.
