Orthomolecular medicine – identifying nutrient deficiencies and compensating for them in a targeted manner
My first approach in health counseling is always a balanced, nutrient-rich diet. This is because our bodies are designed to obtain all essential vitamins, minerals, and trace elements from natural foods. However, in today’s world, this is often no longer possible to a sufficient extent.
Why are diet and “healthy eating” alone not always enough?
✔ Nutrient-poor soils & industrial agriculture → Vegetables and fruit today often contain fewer vitamins and minerals than they did a few decades ago.
✔ High stress & strain on the nervous system → Increased consumption of magnesium, B vitamins, and antioxidants
✔ Intestinal problems & digestive disorders → Poor nutrient absorption due to disturbed intestinal flora or inflammation
✔ Medications & environmental toxins → Some medications (e.g., acid blockers, antibiotics, hormone preparations) deprive the body of important micronutrients
✔ Hormonal changes & life stages → Pregnancy, menopause, or chronic illnesses change nutritional requirements
That’s why it’s important to me to consider targeted orthomolecular support—but always in moderation and with common sense, without unnecessary or excessive supplementation.
My approach: nutrition first, targeted supplementation only when necessary
I begin every consultation with a detailed medical history and laboratory analysis to find out:
✔ Which nutrients you are actually lacking
✔ Whether your body can properly absorb and utilize nutrients
✔ Whether stress, metabolic disorders, or hormonal imbalances are changing your needs
✔ How your diet can be optimized before considering supplementation
My approach is not blind vitamin intake, but a conscious balancing of real deficiencies.
Which nutrients can be usefully supplemented?
💡 Vitamins & minerals – Especially vitamin D, B vitamins, magnesium, zinc, and selenium, which are often insufficient due to stress and modern diets
💡 Omega-3 fatty acids – Often lacking in today’s diet, important for inflammation reduction and cell health
💡 Amino acids & proteins – If deficiency symptoms exist due to insufficient protein intake or poor utilization
💡 Antioxidants & coenzyme Q10 – To support cell energy & mitochondria, especially important in cases of exhaustion & long COVID
I tailor each recommendation individually, no one-size-fits-all supplements, but exactly what your body needs.
Conclusion: Balance between nutrition & targeted support
✔ Food remains the basis of any health strategy
✔ Targeted supplementation only after thorough analysis, no unnecessary supplements
✔ Individual recommendations instead of blanket intake plans
✔ Combination with an gut-friendly diet rich in vital nutrients
If you often feel tired, lethargic, or unbalanced, it may be a good idea to have your nutrient status checked. Together, we will find out what your body really needs to function optimally.
